STARZ 13U Finish in 9th place at AAU Nationals!
 Our Starz 13U team finished in the Top 10 of the AAU National Tournament (Norman, OK) for the very FIRST time!!!  Our Starz began the tournament with Pool Play on July 12 with 2 games.  Our Starz went undefeated in Pool B with a record of 4-0, defeating each opponent (including the #13 seeded NJ Northstars) by more than 13 points!  The Starz 13u team then began the double-elimination Bracket Play on Monday, July 14 by facing the #5 seeded VBA of California.  Our Starz won by a score of 46-37 to move on to face the #5 seeded Maryland Flames later that same day.  After coming from behind to lead in the last 2 minutes, our Starz fell at the end by a score of 58-53 to the eventual 5th place finisher.  On Tuesday, in an elimination game our Starz faced a rematch from earlier in the year with the Memphis Flight, the #5 finisher from 2007.  In a hard fought, defensive battle, our Starz survived by a score of 43-42.  In the Sweet 16, our Starz would face the tough Indiana Elite-South Bend later that same day.   Our Starz rallied to come from behind and win by a score of 52-49 after trailing by 6 pts at halftime.  The Indy Elite finished 13th.  Next, on Wednesday, our Starz would come up short against the 2-time finalist, 2006 Champion, and #1 Seeded Missouri Valley Eclipse (who finished in 7th Place).  This loss landed our Starz 13u team in 9th Place with a record of 7-2 for the week.  CONGRATS to our Starz 13u players, coaches, families, and supporters for a GREAT tournament and a GREAT accomplishment.  This team has a great FUTURE in store!!  Stay Tuned!!

Starz 13u-Bush players pay visit to "Krzyzewskiville" just outside of Duke's Cameron Indoor Stadium where students set up in tents days in advance of Duke home games in an effort to get tickets and become a part of "Cameron's Crazies!"

STARZ 13-Crow take 1st Place in 15u Division of the Lady Patriot Shootout!
Our Starz 13u-Crow defeated Bama's Best 15u in the 15u Championship Game of the Lady Patriot Shootout on Sunday by the score of 55-49. Congrats to this team!

STARZ 13u-Bush WIN AAU Super Regional Tournament (SRT)!!
 Our Starz 13u-Bush team dominated all competition at the AAU SRT held at UT-Martin in Martin, TN on April 4-6 and qualified for the Division 1 AAU 13U National Tournament to be held in Norman, Oklahoma in July 2008!!  Our Starz 13u-Bush team went 6-0 and defeated each team by 14pts or more in becoming one of the first teams in the nation to qualify for the 13u Nationals.  Our Starz defeated the TN Elite 13u by a score of 55-28 in the Semi-finals and then the Memphis Bobcats 13u (Adidas Team) by a score of 70-51 in the finals on Sunday!  See complete game results on our Starz 13u Schedule/Results page.  Congrats to our players, families and coaches!!

Starz 13u-Bush Open 2008 against Top Competition in Memphis!!
Our Southern Starz 13u-Bush team of 2012 players opened their 2008 season by playing some Top Competition in the Rumble on the River in Memphis on March 14-16.  In their opening game on Friday, our Starz faced the AAU National #5 finisher from 2007 the Memphis Flight.  Our Starz jumped out to a 25-15 halftime lead.  Our Starz led the entire game until falling behind by 1 pt with 20 seconds remaining before tying the game on a free throw.  The Memphis Flight managed a bucket as the buzzer sounded to escape with a 52-50 win in a very disappointing loss for our Starz 13u-Bush team.  On Saturday, our Starz 13u-Bush team won 2 games over 2 tough opponents ... the Northwest Arkansas Attitude 13u team with players from both Arkansas and Oklahoma (by a score of 64-48) and the Memphis Select 13u team (by a score of 68-41).  In the game against the NWA Attitude, our Starz fell behind 11-0 before waking up and taking a commanding 40-23 halftime lead.  In the semi-finals on Sunday, our Starz lost a close contest to the eventual tournament champion Georgia Pistols by a score of 45-39.  Our Starz trailed by 20-17 at halftime and stayed in a close contest that could have gone either way until the very end.  Congrats on a very strong showing against national-caliber competition!!

All-County ... All-City ... All-Starz!!
 Starz 8th graders Jasmine Crutcher (Sparkman Middle School), Jasmine Jones (Sparkman Middle School), Andrea (Drea) Matthews (Discovery Middle School), Breonne Walker (Monrovia Middle School), and DeAsia Toney (Meridianville Middle School) were each named to the All-County team for Madison County.  Starz 8th graders Chelsea Mason and Mary Ruth Bush were each named to the All-City team for Huntsville City Schools as they led Hampton Cove to the City Championship!  Congrats to all these young ladies!

Mason & Bush lead HCMS to City Championship!
Starz 8th graders, Chelsea Mason & Mary Ruth Bush (both class of 2012) of Hampton Cove Middle School were both named to the All-City team as they led the Lady Bulls to an undefeated record of 18-0 in city games (20-3 overall) and the City Championship for the 11 middle schools in the Huntsville City Schools system.  In the Championship game against Providence Middle School, Mason & Bush led Hampton Cove with 15 points each in a 42-35 victory on the main court at Huntsville High School.  Chelsea Mason finished her middle school career as the all-time leading scorer for HCMS while Bush finished second.  Mason finished as the all-time leading rebounder while Bush finished as the all-time leading 3-pt shooter.  This was the 2nd undefeated city season and championship for HCMS in the 5 year existence of the school, following the championship of Starz Junior, Kristin Bush in 2004-05.  Congrats to our Starz!!

Haden Hamby scores 31 points for West Morgan!
 Starz newcomer, 8th grader Haden Hamby (class of 2012) of Class 2A West Morgan High School scored 31 points in a hard fought loss by the score of 53-48 to Ardmore High School.  The loss drops West Morgan's record to 12-15, however, Hamby has helped West Morgan to their most victories in many years ... including, their first win in the Morgan County Tournament in 12 years!!  We are extremely excited that Haden will be a part of our Starz family!  Good Luck Haden!

Jordan Johnson helps lead Hatton to Tourney Championship!
 Starz 8th grader, Jordan Johnson (Class of 2012), helped lead the Class 2A Hatton girls' high school varsity to the Championship in the Speake (AL) Christmas Tournament with a 75-48 win over West Morgan on Friday, Dec. 28, 2007 with 13 points.  Teammate & Senior Kayla Burden of the Starz 2008 team led Hatton with 14 pts in the championship game.  Congrats to both Jordan & Kayla!!

 Starz 8th grader, Jordan Johnson, led the Class 2A Hatton girls' varsity to a 60-47 win over West Morgan on Friday, Dec. 21, 2007 with 19 points.  Teammate Chloe Malone added 12 for Hatton in the Class 2A, Area 15 contest.  Hatton improved to 9-4 overall.  Way to go Jordan!!

Starz 12u defeated by Dayton Lady Hoopstars ... Finish 4th in Classic Bracket!!
On Friday afternoon (July 6), our Southern Starz (1994) 12u team was defeated by a very disciplined Dayton (Ohio) Lady Hoopstars team by a score of 37-29.  While this defeat was disappointing, the Starz 12u team finished in 4th Place in the Classic Bracket at the AAU Division I Nationals in Rochester, MN.  Our Starz finished with a record of 6-4 in 10 games at the AAU National Tournament against the top competition in the nation.  With this result, our Starz finished 34th in this 62 team tournament and out of more than 700 12u AAU teams in the nation!!  Congratulations to our Southern Starz 12u team!!

Starz 12u defeat Michigan Shock 12u ...
On Friday morning (July 6), our Southern Starz (1994) 12u team won their 3rd game in a row by defeating the Michigan Shock 12u team be a score of 42-35.  The Starz got off to a sluggish start and led by only 18-16 at halftime.  The Starz 12u team jumped out to a 12 point lead in the second half before the Shock mounted a comeback to cut the lead to 6 points.  That is the closest they would get as our Starz held on for the victory to advance to the Final 4 of the Classic Bracket.  Our Starz improved to a record of 6-3 in this tournament with 1 loss in overtime and 1 loss to the #1 seeded team.  The Starz 12u team will play the Dayton Lady Hoopstars 12u team at 3:30pm in a rematch of a game played 1 month ago in Murfreesboro!  Go Starz!!

Starz 12u hold on to defeat tough Indiana Elite 12u ...
On Thursday afternoon (July 5), our Southern Starz (1994) 12u team played amazing defense and defeated the Indiana State Champions and #13 seeded team entering this tournament by a score of 42-39.  Our Starz held on under great pressure after taking a commanding 26-11 lead at halftime.  The Indiana Elite did not give up and came out very determined and with great energy in the 2nd half.  Our Starz 12u team was up to the challenge in playing one of the greatest game this team has ever played!  The Starz advance to the Final 6 of this 32-team bracket.  Next up for our Starz is the Michigan Shock 12u team at 10:15am on Friday morning.  Go Starz!!

Starz 12u defeat St. Louis Crusaders 12u ...
On Thursday morning (July 5), our Southern Starz (1994) 12u team defeated the St. Louis Crusaders 12u team by a score of 51-28 after taking a 23-14 lead at halftime.  This victory advances our Starz 12u team on to play a tough Inidiana Elite 12u team on Thursday afternoon.  Go Starz!!

Starz 12u lose to PV-Team Sol 12u ...
On Wednesday afternoon (July 4), our Southern Starz (1994) 12u team were defeated by a very strong team from Virginia ... Team Sol 12u.  Our Starz did not play with the same excitement and energy as in recent games but trailed only 20-18 at halftime.  Team Sol jumped on our Starz in the 2nd half to take away a 56-34 victory.  Our Starz 12u team is not done yet, as their next game is at 10:15am on Thursday against the St. Louis Crusaders in the double-elimination consolation bracket.  Go Starz!!

Starz 12u cruise over Maryland Sureshots ...
On Tuesday morning (July 3), our Southern Starz (1994) 12u team won their 2nd consecutive game in the Consolation Bracket with a 56-22 victory over the Maryland Sureshots 12u team.  Our Starz played great in overwhelming the Sureshots by jumping out to a 34-12 lead at halftime.  This victory moves our Starz on to the Final 8 unbeaten teams in this double-elimination format.  The girls will take off Tuesday afternoon to travel to Minneapolis to visit the famous Mall of America and later attend the WNBA game between the Minnesota Lynx (lead by Simone Augustus) and the Phoenix Mercury (lead by Diana Turasi).  Our Starz 12u next game is on Wednesday at 3:30pm against PV-Team Sol 12u from Virginia.  Go Starz!!

Starz 12u overwhelm South Dakota ...
Early Monday morning, our Southern Starz (1994) 12u team began play in the double-elimination Classic Bracket with a 60-19 victory over the outmatched Northern Lites 12u team from South Dakota.  Our Starz took a 28-6 halftime lead and never looked back.  The Classic Bracket is made up of the 32 teams that finished 3rd or 4th in each pool during Pool Play.  Our Starz 12u team moves on to face the Maryland Sureshots on Tuesday morning at 8:30am.  Go Starz!!

Starz 12u Play #1 Ranked Missouri Valley Eclipse ...
On Sunday morning, our Southern Starz (1994) 12u team faced the defending AAU National Champion and tournament #1 seeded Missouri Valley Eclipse.  Our Starz played great defense, holding the Eclipse to a team low of 14 points in the first half.  No team has ever held the Eclipse to a lower point total in 3 years!  The Starz trailed 14-7 at halftime as the girls had trouble scoring against their tough defense.  In the end, the Eclipse prevailed by a score of 45-30.  Our girls played with great effort and determination!  This result, combined with the overtime loss on Saturday placed our Starz 12u team as the #3 ranked team in Pool A.  The Starz move on to Bracket Play in the double-elimination Classic Tournament on Monday.  Go Starz!!

Starz 12u Win 2nd Pool Game at AAU Nationals ...
After a disappointing overtime loss on Saturday morning, the Southern Starz (1994) 12u team rebounded with a come from behind victory over the Staten Island (NY) Rebels 12u team by a score of 48-44.  The Starz fell behind by 13 points in the first half and were behind by 8 points at halftime.  By playing tough defense, the Starz held the Rebels to 15 points in the 2nd half.  The Starz improved to 1-1 in Pool A with 1 more pool game on Sunday vs the #1 ranked Missouri Valley Eclipse 12u team.  Go Starz!!

Starz 12u Results at AAU Nationals ...
The Southern Starz (1994) 12u team played its first ever game at the AAU Division I National Tournament today and suffered a disappointing loss in Overtime to Team Indiana Thunder 12u by a score of 51-48.  Our Starz 12u team was clearly nervous in the first half as they fell behind by a score of 18-8.  The girls were behind by a score of 23-16 at halftime.  Then, our Starz 12u team woke up, played with great energy, and took the lead in the 2nd half by 5 points.  The game was close until the end of regulation which ended in a 44-44 tie.  Our Starz scored first in overtime but lost the lead and the game down the stretch.  The Starz 12u team made only 6 of 19 free throws for the game while the Thunder made 12 of 20.  Our Starz 12u team plays their 2nd pool game at 5:15pm today (Saturday). Go Starz!!

UAH Team Camp 2007
The Starz 12u team participated in Team Camp at the University of Alabama at Huntsville (UAH) on Friday & Saturday, June 15-16.  Our Starz 12u team of rising 8th graders played 6 games with a record of 5-1 against high school JV and Varsity teams.  Our Starz 12u team defeated JV teams from Class 6A Grissom High School, Class 6A Austin HS, and Class 5A Albertville HS.  Our Starz 12u team defeated Varsity teams from Class 5A Butler HS and Class 3A Vinemont HS.  The Starz only loss was to a very good  Class 3A Madison Academy Varsity team.  Way to go Starz!

SE Challenge 2007
The Starz 12u team participated in the Southeast Challenge 2007 on June 8-9 hosted by the TN Team Pride in Murfreesboro, TN.  The Starz 12u team played shorthanded with only 6 players due to conflicts with school basketball and vacations.  The Starz 12u team played 2 teams who will be participating in the AAU Nationals (TN Team Pride 12u - 2nd in State of TN ... and ... Dayton Lady Hoopstars 12u - 2nd in State of Ohio).  The Starz lost close games to both teams (by 6 and 7 pts).  The Starz 12u team also played 2  13u teams, defeating the Memphis Sparks 13u team by 51-30 and losing to a tough TN Belles 13u team by 44-28 as our Starz finally ran out of gas!  Our girls played well and played hard with only 6 players!  Congrats!

2nd place at the AAU State Tournament
The Starz 12u team finished 2nd in State of AL AAU for second year in a row and qualify for AAU Division I Nationals to be held in Rochester, MN on June 29-July 7.

STARZ 12U take 1st in North AL Roundball 13u Division!
 The Starz94-12U (Bush) team defeated 3 teams to go undefeated in the 13u division of the North AL Roundball tournament held on March 30-31 in Huntsville.  Congrats to all the players and coaches!
