DESTANY McLIN Signs NLI with Jacksonville State!     
Starz Senior, Destany McLin (Class of 2012) a 5'9" Guard for 5A-Athens High School (Athens, AL), signed her National Letter of Intent (NLI) to play basketball and attend college at Division 1 Jacksonville State University (Jacksonville, AL) of the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC).   After a Fall 2011 visit by Destany and her family to JSU, she accepted the scholarship offer of Head Coach Annette Watts.  Coach Watts is very excited about the addition of Destany to the program at JSU!  Destany plans to study towards a career in Physical Therapy while at JSU.  In July, Destany helped lead the Starz 2012-Combined Team to the AAU D2 National Championship!  (See Link to Replay on ESPN3.Com Below)  CONGRATS to Destany!!

DEASIA TONEY Signs NLI with Francis Marion University!
Starz Senior, DeAsia Toney (Class of 2012) a 5'4" Guard for 6A-Hazel Green High School signed her National Letter of Intent during the Early Signing Period in November 2011 to play basketball and attend college at Division 2 Francis Marion University (Greenville, SC) of the Peach Belt Conference(PBC).   After an "official" visit by DeAsia to FMU in the Fall, she accepted the scholarship offer of Head Coach Kate Glusko.  DeAsia plans to study Nursing while at FMU.  DeAsia was recruited heavily by Assistant Coach Tim Wilson who could be seen at many of our Starz games in Orlando in early July 2011.  Both coaches are very excited about the addition of DeAsia to the program at FMU!  In July, after suffering a broken nose, DeAsia helped lead the Starz 2012-Combined Team to the AAU D2 National Championship!  (See Link to Replay on ESPN3.Com Below)  CONGRATS to DeAsia - one of our long-time Starz!!

JORDAN JOHNSON Signs NLI with UT-Martin of the OVC!   
Starz Junior, Jordan Johnson (Class of 2012), a 5’11" high scoring Forward for Top 10 ranked  2A Hatton (AL) High School signed her National Letter of Intent (NLI)  during the November 2011 signing period to become a member of the Division 1 UT-Martin Skyhawks, 2010-11 Champions of the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC)!!  UTM won the OVC Conference Tournament in March 2011 and advanced onto the NCAA Tournament to face Duke University at famed Cameron Indoor Stadium in first round play.  Jordan was named 1^st Team All-State in Class 2A in 2010-11 while averaging 30 pts & 16 rebs per game.  She played for the victorious North squad in the annual Alabama North vs South All-Star Game in July 2011.  CONGRATS to Jordan!!

TIARRA POLLNITZ Signs NLI with SOUTHERN MISS of C-USA! 
Starz Junior, Tiarra Pollnitz (Class of 2012), a 5'8" Point Guard 6A-Shades Valley High School (Birmingham, AL) signed a National Letter of Intent (NLI) to become a member of the University of Southern Mississippi (USM) Golden Eagles of Conference USA!!  Tiarra signed her NLI at her high school in front of family, friends, coaches, team mates, and Starz Coach Kent Looney!  Tiarra is the #40 ranked Guard in the Class of 2012 per ESPNU HoopGurlz (see http://espn.go.com/womens-college-basketball/recruiting/player/_/id/121567/tiarra-pollnitz).  This past July, she played for the victorious North squad in the annual Alabama North vs South All-Star game in Montgomery where she helped lead her North team to a dominating 79-41 victory!!  CONGRATS to Tiarra (aka "Nunnie")!!

JACKIE THOMPSON Signs NLI with U of Montevallo!
Starz Senior, Jacquelyn Thompson (Class of 2012) a 5'6" Guard for 6A-Buckhorn High School has signed a National Letter of Intent (NLI) to play basketball and attend college at Division 2 University of Montevallo (Montevallo, AL) of the Peach Belt Conference(PBC).
At a ceremony held on Nov. 9 at her high school, Jacquelyn signed her
NLI in front of family, friends, coaches & team mates. Jacquelyn plans to study Pre-Med while at Montevallo. She will join former Starz 2009 player, Alex Strickland (Clay-Chalkville HS) at UM. Jacquelyn helped lead the Starz 2012-Combined Team to the AAU D2 National Championship! (See Link to Replay on ESPN3.Com Below) Head Coach Cindy Hilbrich is very excited about the addition of Jacquelyn to her program at Montevallo. CONGRATS to Jacquelyn!!

CHELSEA MASON signs NLI with Kennesaw State Univ!
Starz Senior, Chelsea Mason (Class of 2012) a 5'8" Wing for State Runner-Up Bellevue West High School (Bellevue, Nebraska) signed a National Letter of Intent to play basketball and attend college at Division 1 Kennesaw State University (Kennesaw, GA) of the Atlantic Sun Conference (A-Sun).   After a recent "official" visit by Chelsea to KSU, she accepted the scholarship offer of Head Coach Colby Tilley. 
Chelsea plans to study Physical Therapy while at KSU.  The entire coaching staff is very excited about the addition of Chelsea to the program at KSU where she will join former Starz 2009 player and current pre-season All-Conference KSU Junior, Sametria Gideon!  In July 2011, Chelsea helped lead the Starz 2012-Combined Team to the AAU D2 National Championship!  (See Link to Replay on ESPN3.Com Below)  CONGRATS to Chelsea - one of our long-time Starz!!

TIERRA JONES signs NLI with Tulane University!
Starz Senior, Tierra Jones (Class of 2012) a 5'9" All-State player for Class 6A State Champion Bob Jones High School (Madison, AL), signed a National Letter of Intent (NLI) to attend college and play her college basketball at Division 1 Tulane University (New Orleans, LA) 2009-10 Champions of Conference USA (C-USA).  Tierra signed in front of family, friends, coaches, team mates and Starz Director/Coach Doug Bush in a ceremony at Bob Jones High School.  The Green Wave finished 23-11 in 2010-11. Tierra is a 3-Star Prospect as rated by ESPN/HoopGurlz and is the #44 ranked Wing player in the Class of 2012.  Tierra determined that the combination of the high academic standards coupled with the quality of the basketball program at Tulane was the ideal fit.  Tulane Head Coach Lisa Stockton is very excited about the addition of a proven Winner & Leader to her program.  CONGRATS to Tierra!!

LYDIA MCGEE signs NLI with Samford!
Starz Junior, Lydia McGee (Class of 2012) a 5'9" All-State Guard for
Class 3A State Champion Madison Academy (Madison, AL), signed her National Letter of Intent (NLI) to attend college and play her college basketball at Division 1 Samford University (Birmingham, AL), 2010-11 Champions of the Southern Conference (SoCon).  Lydia signed in a ceremony in her high school gymnasium in front of friends, family, coaches, team mates, students, and Starz Director/Coach Doug Bush. Lydia will join former Southern Starz player KeKe Fletcher (Class of 2011) and her former teammate at Madison Academy.  Lydia will also join former Starz 2009 graduates Kylie Black (Speake HS) and Jazmine Martin (Hoover HS) at Samford which is under the direction of Head Coach Mike Morris.   Coach Morris is very excited about the addition of a proven Winner & Leader to his program.  CONGRATS to Lydia!!

JASMINE JONES Signs NLI with the TENNESSEE LADY VOLS!   
Starz Junior, Jasmine Jones (Class of 2012) a 6'1" All-State Forward for 6A Defending State Champion Bob Jones High School signed her National Letter of Intent in front of family, friends, team mates, coaches, media, and Starz Director/Coach Doug Bush.  Jasmine is the #11 ranked player in the Class of 2012 per the All-Star Girls' Report.  Jasmine was discovered by the University of Tennessee while playing with our Sourthern Starz 2012 team at the 13U AAU Nationals in Norman, OK in July 2008!!  Her mother, LaTrish Jones was a standout player at the University of Alabama in the mid-late 1990's.  Jasmine considered offers from many top programs, but followed her dream in the end ... to become a Lady Vol!  She becomes only 1 of 4 players from the state of Alabama during the past 25 years to play for the U of Tennessee and will join the #4 ranked recruiting Class of 2012 in the country.

HAYDEN HAMBY Signs NLI with PURDUE of the BIG 10! 
Starz Junior, Hayden Hamby (Class of 2012), a 5'7" high scoring Guard for #7-ranked 3A West Morgan High School (Trinity, AL) signed her National Letter of Intent in her school library in front of family, friends, teammates, & coaches on November 9 to formally become a member of the Purdue Boilermakers of the Big 10 Conference!!  Purdue won the National Championship in 1999 and has been to the Final 4 on 4 occasions with numerous Elite 8 and Sweet 16 appearances.   Entering her Senior season, Hayden is now 9th on the all-time scoring list in Alabama history with 3,336 points!  Hayden was discovered by Purdue Head Coach Sharon Versyp playing with our Starz 2012 team at the Top 10 Team Shootout (by Michael T. White) held during the October NCAA Viewing weekend in Louisville, KY last Fall (2010).  Hayden is very excited to be joining a program like Purdue which is ranked in the pre-season Top 15 in the nation.  Purdue's Recruiting Class of 2012 is ranked amongst the nation's best at #13.  See more at ESPN/HoopGurlz:  http://espn.go.com/high-school/girls-basketball/recruiting/class-rankings?classyear=2012&classmonth=11&rank=13.

NINA MILLS Commits to Martin Methodist!
Starz Senior, Nina Mills (Class of 2012) a 5'4" Guard for 4A-Good Hope High School has verbally committed to play basketball and attend college at NAIA Martin Methodist College (Pulaski, TN) of the TranSouth Conference (TSC).   Nina missed the very end of her high school season in the Spring of 2011 after sustaining an ACL injury in the Regional Playoffs at Wallace State CC.  She also missed the Spring/Summer AAU Season with our Starz 2012 team, but has worked very hard in recently returning to the court.  MMC Head Coach Jay Belcher is very excited about the addition of Nina to his program!!  She will follow former Starz 2008 player, Vee Young (Pulaski, TN) who is currently in her final season at MMC as she earned 3rd Team NAIA All-America honors in 2010-11.  CONGRATS to Nina!!

SIERRA SALES signed with Chattanooga State CC!!
Starz Senior (Class of 2011), Sierra Sales, a 5'11" Forward for State Champion 2A-Tanner High School has signed a Letter of Intent to attend school and play her college basketball at Chattanooga State Technical Community College in Chattanooga, TN!  Chattanooga State is a member of the Tennessee Community College Athletic Association (TCCAA).   During her recent 2010-11 high school season, Sierra led her Tanner Rattlers to the 2A State Championship.  She was named Tournament MVP, she was named the Player of the Year in Class 2A, she was a finalist for AL Miss Basketball, and she was named First Team All-State in Class 2A, amongst other honors. She helped lead our Southern Starz 2011 Team
to back-to-back AAU State Championships in 2008 & 2009. CONGRATS to Sierra!

RIKEYAH MCKINNON signs with West Alabama!     
Starz Senior, Rikeyah McKinnon (Class of 2011) a 5'7" Guard for 6A State Champion Bob Jones High School signed a National Letter of Intent on Tuesday, April 21 to attend school and play college basketball at Division 2 West Alabama of the Gulf South Conference in Livingston, AL.  Rikeyah was a member of the North squad in the annual Alabama North vs South All-Star Game in July 2010.  She helped lead Bob Jones to the 6A State Championship in her Senior year and to a State Runner-Up finish during her Junior year when she was named to the Final 48 All-State Tournament Team.  West Alabama Head Coach Craig Roden is excited about the addition of Rikeyah to his team!  CONGRATS to Rikeyah!!

ALICIA WILLIAMS commits to D1 Mercer University!      
Starz Senior, Alicia Williams (Class of 2011) a 5'10" Wing for 5A-Ft. Payne High School has verbally committed to attend school and play college basketball at Division 1 Mercer University of the Atlantic Sun Conference (A-Sun) in Macon, Georgia.  Alicia was recently named 1st Team All-State in Class 5A and was a member of the 12-member Alabama squad in the annual Alabama vs Mississippi All-Star Game held in March 2011.  Alicia was also a member of the North squad in the annual Alabama North vs South All-Star Game in July 2010.  Mercer Head Coach Susie Gardner is excited about the addition of Alicia to her team and feels that Alicia can make an immediate impact!

TAYLOR DEAN commits to Wallace State CC!
Starz Senior,  Taylor Dean (Class of 2011) a 5'8" Forward for 5A-Fort Payne High School has verbally committed to attend school and play college basketball at Wallace State Community College in Hanceville, AL!  She will join Starz Class of 2011 teammates Whitney Putman & Abby Isom at WSCC.  Taylor played for Fort Payne HS which was ranked #5 in the State of AL (5A).  She made a great effort to travel to Huntsville to join our Starz program 3 years ago!  Taylor was an important part of our Starz 2011 team coached by Kent Looney.    WSCC recently advanced to the National JUCO Tournament (Final 16) held in Salinas, Kansas in March 2011.  CONGRATS to Taylor!

Starz Senior, Abby Isom (Class of 2011) a 5'5" Shooting Guard for 6A-Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa High School has verbally committed to attend school and play college basketball at Wallace State Community College in Hanceville, AL!  She will join Starz teammate Whitney Putman at WSCC.  Abby played for the Lady Patriots who were ranked #7 in the State of AL (6A).  She made a great effort to travel to Huntsville to join our Starz program 3 years ago!  Abby was an important part of our Starz 2011 team coached by Kent Looney.  She received interest/offers from various colleges before deciding on WSCC.  WSCC has recently advanced to the National JUCO Tournament (Final 16) to be held in Salinas, Kansas.  CONGRATS to Abby! 

WHITNEY PUTMAN commits to Wallace State CC!
Starz Senior, Whitney Putman (Class of 2011) a 5'4" Point Guard for 6A-Huntsville High School has verbally committed to attend school and play college basketball at Wallace State Community College in Hanceville, AL!  Her official signing is tentatively planned for Friday, April 8 at HHS.  Whitney was recently named All Area and All Area Tournament for 6A Area 16.  Whitney plans to pursue a Nursing Degree and ultimately pursue her Master's Degree at UAB and obtain a Physician's Assistant (PA) designation.  She is a long-time member of our Starz program, playing since she was 9 years old!  Per her family, "the Southern Starz gave us the exposure and the opportunity to develop Whitney's game and gain the interest of the various college programs from which she selected WSCC.  She received numerous college offers, ranging from JUCO to D-2 with all coaches mentioning that they noticed her while playing with the Southern Starz.  Whitney is extremely excited and appreciates how the Starz program has helped her to attain her goals!"  Coach Ron Burdette of WSCC feels that "Whitney is a coach on the floor and a real leader ... with her ability to get the ball to open players, I am very excited to have her as a part of our family here at WSCC."  CONGRATS to Whitney!!

Morgan Duncan (2009) signs with UAH!     
Former Starz player and current Sophomore at Wallace State Community College, Morgan Duncan (2A-Red Bay High School) has signed her official Letter-of-Intent to attend and play her final 2 years of college basketball at Division 2 University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) for the Lady Chargers and Head Coach Roy Heintz.  Morgan is currently finishing up her final season at Wallace State and plans to major in Engineering while at UAH.  Morgan played for our Starz 2010 team in the Spring/Summer of 2009 as an un-signed Senior.  CONGRATS to Morgan!

KeKe Fletcher signs with Samford!     
Starz Junior, Kyera ("KeKe") Fletcher (Class of 2011) a 5'11" Forward for
2-time State Runner-Up 3A-Madison Academy (Madison, AL), signed her official Letter-of-Intent on Wednesday, November 10 to attend and play her college basketball at Division 1 Samford University (Birmingham, AL) of the Southern Conference.  KeKe's signing ceremony took place in the gymnasium at her school and was attended by family, friends, coaches, teammates, the student body, and Starz coaches Kent Looney & Doug Bush.   KeKe becomes the first member of our Starz 2011 Class to finalize her college decision and she will join former Starz 2009 graduates Kylie Black (Speake HS) and Jazmine Martin (Hoover HS) at Samford.  Samford finished their 2009-10 season with a school record # of wins (23-11) and advanced to the 2nd round of the WNIT postseason tourney which included a 1st round win at home over Ole Miss of the SEC!  Samford finished 2nd in the SoCon in 2009-10.  Samford has recently been picked as the pre-season favorites to capture the SoCon Title in 2010-11.   KeKe is very excited about the combination of academic and athletics that she will find at Samford!  She plans to major in Exercise Science and become a Physical Therapist.  Samford Head Coach Mike Morris is very excited about adding yet another Starz player and a proven winner like KeKe to his program.  Congrats to KeKe!

Haley Stewart commits to Freed-Hardeman!     
Starz Senior, Haley Stewart (Class of 2010) a 5'8" shooting Guard for 2-time State Runner-Up 3A-Madison Academy (Madison, AL), has verbally committed to attend and play her college basketball at nationally ranked NAIA Freed-Hardeman University (Henderson, TN).  Freed-Hardeman recently finished with a 23-6 record and ranked 13th in the nation in the Final NAIA Division 1 Coaches Poll.   Haley is very excited about the challenges of college and the next stage in her basketball career!  Freed-Hardeman Head Coach Dale Neal feels Haley will fit well within their system and is extremely excited about the addition of another "winner" like Haley to the program.  Congrats to Haley!

Mookie Horton signs (Track) with Jacksonville State!     
Starz Senior, LeCresha ("Mookie") Horton (Class of 2010) a 5'9" Guard for 5A-Athens High School (Athens, AL), has signed to run track and attend college at Division 1 Jacksonville State University (Jacksonville, AL) of the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC).   Mookie is undecided about whether to also play basketball at JSU.  She is very excited about the opportunity to continue her athletic career in college!  Good Luck to Mookie!!

Britney McCloud signs with Gulf Coast CC!     
Starz Senior, Britney McCloud (Class of 2010) a 5'10" Guard for 6A-Decatur High School, has signed a Letter of Intent to attend and play her first 2 years of college basketball at nationally ranked Gulf Coast Community College (Panama City, FL).  Gulf Coast CC is a member of the FCCAA Panhandle Conference and recently won the school's 3rd NJCAA Division 1 National Championship!!   GCCC defeated Jefferson JUCO by a score of 83-61 in the National Championship Game held on March 22, 2010 in Salinas, KS.  Recently, GCCC announced that several of its players have signed Division 1 scholarships at schools including Arizona and NC-Charlotte.  GCCC will provide Britney with a great opportunity to move on to the next level.  GCCC Head Coach Roonie Scovel is excited about the addition of Britney to her program.  Congrats to Britney!

STARZ at Bob Jones HS Sign with D1-Arkansas State!! 
Starz Seniors Mekena Randle and Tiarra Pritchett from our Southern Starz Senior Class of 2010 signed their National Letters of Intent with Division 1  Arkansas State of the Sun Belt Conference on Wednesday, April 14 in a ceremony held at Bob Jones High School that was well attended by Coaches, Friends, Family and Teammates, including Starz 2010 Coach Doug Bush.   Each of the players said a few words, including a Thanks to their Starz coaches and organization.  Specific mention was made of the opportunity each received as a result of playing in College Exposure events with the Starz!  CONGRATS to both Mekena & Tiarra on this tremendous accomplishment!

Georgia Myrex is #12 on Super Seniors (by B'ham News)!     
Yet another accolade has been bestowed upon Starz Senior, Georgia Myrex of 2A-Cold Springs High School as she was recently named to the exclusive list of the 2010 Super Seniors as published by The Birmingham News!  Myrex, who recently signed to play her college basketball at U of North Alabama was placed at #12 on this exclusive listing of Alabama Seniors which includes nationally ranked players such as Keneshia Horn (Alabama), Tyrese Tanner (Auburn), and Shanece McKinney (LSU) along with Alabama's all-time leading scorer, Courtney Strain (Auburn).  Congrats again to Georgia!!

FIVE (5) players from our Southern Starz Senior Class of 2009 signed their National Letters of Intent on Friday, November 14 in a ceremony at Bob Jones High School that was well attended by Coaches, Friends, Family and Teammates, including Starz 2009 Coaches Doug Bush & Willie Harris.  The 5 Starz who signed were Kellie Cook (TN Tech), Kylie Cook (TN Tech), Sametria Gideon (Kennesaw State), Jasmine Green (UAB), and Jala Harris (UAB).  Each of the players said a few words, including a Thanks to their Starz coaches and organization.  CONGRATS to all these young ladies on this tremendous accomplishment

Kylie Black of Speake Signs with Samford!!
Southern Starz Senior in the Class of 2009, Kylie Black signed her National Letters of Intent to play her college basketball with Division 1 Samford University of the Southern Conference on Friday afternoon, November 14 in a ceremony at Speake High School that was attended by Friends, Family, Teammates, local media, and Starz Coach Doug Bush.  CONGRATS to Kylie on this tremendous accomplishment
