Coach Doug Bush

Coach Bush is native of Houston, Texas and a 1986 graduate of The
University of Texas with a BBA in Accounting. He received his
CPA designation shortly thereafter. He is a successful business
professional and proud father of 3 daughters who are all former
Starz players! Coach Bush has been involved in girls' basketball
for more than 13 years, first in the City Recreation leagues, then
with Huntsville Middle School, and for the past 11 years with the
Southern Starz AAU Girls' Basketball program. Coach Bush has been
instrumental in growing the Starz program from 1 team (of 9 & 10) yr
olds in 2000 to 10 teams in 2012 consisting of more than 130 players
(from all over N. Alabama, So. Tennessee & E. Mississippi)! As a
Starz Coach, he has led his teams to 8 AL AAU State Championships
and 5 AAU National Top 10 finishes, including a Runner-Up finish in
the 14U (9th Grade) age division in 2006. His teams have also
captured Alabama state titles in YBOA as well as in the Alabama
Sports Festival. In the past 4 graduating classes (2009-2012), 30
Starz players have signed NCAA Division 1 scholarships and more than
45 players have signed college scholarships at various levels (D1,
D2, NAIA, JUCO, etc.). Coach Bush is Certified by the NCAA, and he
is a current member of both the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) and the
Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA). His middle
daughter is a current member of the University of Alabama women's
basketball team.
