Coach Doug Bush - Coach Bush is native of Houston, Texas and a 1986 graduate of The University of Texas with a BBA in Accounting.  He received his CPA designation shortly thereafter.  He is a successful business professional and proud father of 3 daughters who are all former Starz players!  Coach Bush has been involved in girls' basketball for more than 13 years, first in the City Recreation leagues, then with Huntsville Middle School, and for the past 11 years with the Southern Starz AAU Girls' Basketball program.  Coach Bush has been instrumental in growing the Starz program from 1 team (of 9 & 10) yr olds in 2000 to 10 teams in 2012 consisting of more than 130 players (from all over N. Alabama, So. Tennessee & E. Mississippi)!  As a Starz Coach, he has led his teams to 8 AL AAU State Championships and 5 AAU National Top 10 finishes, including a Runner-Up finish in the 14U (9th Grade) age division in 2006.  His teams have also captured Alabama state titles in YBOA as well as in the Alabama Sports Festival.  In the past 4 graduating classes (2009-2012), 30 Starz players have signed NCAA Division 1 scholarships and more than 45 players have signed college scholarships at various levels (D1, D2, NAIA, JUCO, etc.).  Coach Bush is Certified by the NCAA, and he is a current member of both the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA).  His middle daughter is a current member of the University of Alabama women's basketball team.

Fred Gilliam - Fred Gilliam is a native of Greenville, S.C. and played college basketball at Clemson University from 1979-1983. He competed in the prestigious Atlantic Coast Conference and advanced to the Elite 8 West Region Finals in 1980. While at Clemson he garnered IPTAY Tournament MVP honors, lead the team in free throw percentage and finished with over 1000 career points.  After Clemson, he was drafted by the Utah Jazz.   Fred spent his final basketball years playing exhibition basketball for Athletes in Action and later,The Shooting Stars, with teammates Pistol Pete and former Harlem Globetrotters Meadowlark Lemon, Curley Neal and Gator Rivers.  He is the father of three children, Bo, Daniel and Libba and is a self-employed apartment owner.  Fred and his wife Lynda were married in 1985 and both have joined the Starz  organization as of the 2012 season.

Lynda Gilliam - Lynda Gilliam is a native of Greenville, S.C. and played college basketball at Furman University from 1979-83. She competed in the Southern Conference, was team captain for two years, named MVP as a Senior and chosen as an Academic All-American and graduated Magna Cum Lauda.  After college she spent one year at Lamar University in Beaumont,Texas as a graduate assistant basketball coach before returning to Furman as the Assistant Women's Basketball Coach from 1984-1987.  She was the Assistant Coach for the Athletes in Action 1984 Exhibition Basketball Team to South America.   Dr.Gilliam graduated from  medical school with honors in 1991 and moved to the Seattle area with her family to complete her OB/Gyn residency. After completing a twelve year Army medical career she moved to Decatur, Alabama with her family in 2000.   Dr. Gilliam and her husband Fred have 3 children and relocated to Huntsville in January 2012 to continue her OB/Gyn practice.
